Teaching Philosphy
Above all, learning music is a lifelong journey that should be fun and about playing music. All ages and skills levels are welcomed and encouraged - it is never too early or too late to enhance one's understanding and ultimate enjoyment of music. I view it is my role as an instructor to guide each student toward achieving their particular set of musical goals, rather than a rigid curriculum one must endure to progress. Lessons are individually tailored toward the unique interests, and desires of student so that the learning process is rooted in encouragement and never thought of as a chore . Topics can include, reading, ear training, music theory, technique, improvisation and general musicianship. Whether it be jazz improvisation or being able to strum along to your favorite classic rock tunes from the porch on a summer evening, it is my privilege to help any student enjoy the greatest gift the world has to offer...playing music.
